A Prayer for Making Decisions
I wanted to ask for your prayers for my mother and my aunt. Both of them were recently diagnosed with lung cancer. I am so grateful to be by my mother’s side as she prepares for treatment and am also praying that my aunt makes a full recovery.
By strange coincidence, a couple of weeks ago I started working on a new video for a prayer revealed by Bahá’u’lláh for making decisions. The next day we had a family consultation to help my mother figure out what course of treatment she should take and where to receive it.
Needless to say there were a number of weighty decisions that she had to make. After the consultation, I felt the urge to finish the video as fast as I could so that my dear mother could use it in the process of making these important decisions.

As I was exporting the video for her, I marvelled at the timing of the creation of it on one of the most important days in my mother’s life. I realised that there are no coincidences.
Text of the Prayer for Making Decisions
This prayer was revealed by Bahá’u’lláh for Samandar to be repeated 19 times for making decisions. Bahá’u’lláh wrote:
“Samandar, upon him rest My glory, hath ever been the recipient of divine favours, and there hath befallen him in the path of God that which His knowledge alone can encompass.
In regard to his affairs, let him repeat nineteen times:
‘Thou seest me, O my God, detached from all save Thee and cleaving unto Thee. Guide me, then, in all mine affairs unto that which profiteth me for the glory of Thy Cause and the loftiness of the station of thy loved ones.’
Let him then reflect upon the matter and undertake whatever cometh to mind.”
