I’m excited to share the release of a new piece and video titled ‘Salutation and Blessing’. 

The words to the song are from a Tablet of Visitation revealed by Bahá’u’lláh in honor of His wife, Ásíyih Khánum, known as The Most Exalted Leaf and titled Navváb.  The passage is to be recited when visiting her resting place in Haifa.

Ásíyih Khánum – Queenly in her Dignity

Ásíyih Khánum was known for her qualities of nobility and graciousness.  Her daughter, Bahíyyih Khánum described her as “queenly in her dignity and loveliness, full of consideration for everybody, gentle… and no action of hers ever failed to show the loving-kindness of her pure heart…” (see graphic below for the full quotation).

Short Biography of Ásíyih Khánum

Ásíyih Khánum, also known as Navváb, was the esteemed wife of Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Bahá’í Faith. Born into an influential family in Tehran, Persia (modern-day Iran), she married Bahá’u’lláh in 1835. Known for her exceptional grace, dignity, and unwavering support for her husband, Ásíyih Khánum played a pivotal role in the early days of the Bahá’í Faith.

As the mother of  Bahíyyih Khánum, Mírzá Mihdí and `Abdu’l-Bahá, the eldest son and successor of Bahá’u’lláh, Ásíyih Khánum raised three of the most unique personages in Bahá’í  history. Despite enduring immense hardships, including imprisonment and exile with her family, she remained steadfast and resilient, embodying the virtues of patience and faith.

Bahíyyih Khánum wrote “From our doors nobody was ever turned away; the hospitable board was spread for all comers. Constantly the poor women came to my mother, to whom they poured out their various stories of woe, to be comforted and consoled by her loving helpfulness…. They spoke of my mother as ‘The Mother of Consolation’.*

Ásíyih Khánum is remembered as a noble and devoted figure in Bahá’í history, whose life of service and sacrifice is an example and source of inspiration to all.

Inspiration behind the Song

There’s one particular phrase in the Tablet that has always moved me.  Bahá’u’lláh says “We pray God that He may… grant their desires, and bestow upon them, through His wondrous grace, whatever be their wish.”  You will hear this phrase repeated in the song as I wanted to emphasize its significance.

To me this phrase means that when we say this prayer at Navváb’s resting place, that our wishes may be granted.

Whenever I have the opportunity to stand before Navváb’s resting place, I find myself making requests on behalf of my loved ones, trusting in the power of prayer.

I hope you’ll have the opportunity to visit this sacred spot and recite this prayer at Navváb’s resting place.
