Persecution of 7 Bahais in Iran

You may recently have heard about the situation of the 7 Baha’i leaders who have been imprisoned in Iran.  In March 2008, they were taken from their homes and held captive until now.  For the first few months, no one knew of their whereabouts.  For some time they were held in solitary confinement and denied access to their families.  Although eventually family members were allowed brief visits under strict observation, the prisoners have yet to be given access to legal counsel.  The conditions of their incarceration have varied in degree of severity over the course of the past several months, with the five male members confined at one time to a cell no more than ten square meters in size, with no bed.  Finally, after some nine months of imprisonment, during which time not a shred of evidence could be found linking them to any wrongdoing, they were accused of “espionage for Israel, insulting religious sanctities and propaganda against the Islamic Republic,” and it has been announced that their case will soon be submitted to court with a request for indictment.
In response to the situation the Baha’i International Community has written a letter to the prosecutor general of Iran calling upon him to exercise fairness and justice in accordance with International law.  The letter notes that Baha’is are well wishers of the Iranian nation and government and do not involve themselves in Partisan political affairs.  The letter requests that the Baha’is and all other minority groups in Iran be allowed to live peacefully with others in accordance with their own beliefs.  Here is the full text of the letter.
In honor of our dear friends in Iran, I recently composed a song called Persecution and felt it was timely to release it as soon as possible and share it with everyone now.  We are in the midst of creating a video for it too that we will share when it is ready.  I will share a free download of the song and lyrics in a few days when it is mixed and completed.

Prayer of the Day: “Lauded be Thy name, O Thou Who beholdest all things and art hidden from all things! From every land Thou hearest the lamentations of them that love Thee, and from every direction Thou hearkenest unto the cries of such as have recognized Thy sovereignty. Were their oppressors to be asked: “Wherefore have ye oppressed them and held them in bondage…? What injustice have they committed? Whom have they betrayed? Whose blood have they spilled, and whose property have they plundered?” they would know not what to answer…
“Thou knowest full well, O my God, that their only crime is to have loved Thee.” – Baha’u’llah
